Krill oil -next generation of Omega-3

Krill exist in all ocean around the globe. It representing the largest biomass on the Earth. Krill exhibit a shrimp-like appearance.Krill live in huge swarms in the ocean and because they feed on marine algae that produce omega-3 fatty acids- eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahecaenoic acid (DHA) - they will accumulate these fatty acids in their body.

Both krill oil and fish oil contain EPA and DHA, however they deliver these fats in different ways. In fish oil, omega-3 fats are attached to triglycerides, that can be burned for energy or stored as fuel reserve in fat cells.

Or else in krill oil, omega-3 are attached to phospholipids that make up the membrane of each cell in our bodies. The membrane acts as the walls of the house to maintain the integrity of the cell. It controls what goes in and out and communication between cells.
When cell membranes function well, nutrients are more easily absorbed, used to replace and repair tissue and to generate energy.

Human clinical studies have shown that EPA and DHA from krill oils s more effectively incorporated in the human cells and tissues compared to fish oil. This means that same amount of krill will be absorbed into out body compare to fish oil.

Astaxanthin , an antioxidant carotenoid that gives krill oil its deep red colour. It is a very potent antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties.

mum over 35

Nowadays, getting more and more women are having their babies later in their life. This is because some wanted to enjoy their personal and have their freedom longer , some did not meet the Mr right when they were younger and some choose to have their careers and get financial freedom first.

However, it is important to remember, the chances of woman to get pregnant continue ti fall over time. the risks of getting pregnant also increase over time.

Fertility expert advise women to start their family before the age of 35. It is because fertility rate falls over time.

Before 35, a couple will normally take six months to conceive naturally but after 35, they can take up to 1-2 years or even longer. As women age, sometimes an egg is never release during their monthly cycle. Egg quality and quantity also declines when a woman is in her 30s. This will contributing into the lower success rate in conception.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is a group of eight fat-soluble compounds that include both tocopherols and tocotrienols. Of the many different forms of vitamin E, γ-tocopherol is the most common in the North American diet. γ-Tocopherol can be found in corn oil, soybean oil and margarine. α-tocopherol, the most biologically active form of vitamin E, is the second-most common form of vitamin E in the diet. It can be found in wheat sunflower oil, gem oil and safflower oils. As a fat-soluble antioxidant, it stops the production of reactive oxygen species formed when fat undergoes oxidation.

Benefit of  Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an powerful antioxidant which important to cell membranes. Vitamin E helps prevent cancer, heart disease, strokes, cataracts, and possibly some of the signs of aging.

Vitamin E protects artery walls and keeps the "bad" low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol from being oxidized. Oxidation of LDL cholesterol marks the beginning of clogged arteries. Vitamin E also keeps the blood thin by preventing blood platelets from clumping together.

High levels of vitamin E in the body decrease the risk of a non-fatal heart attack or stroke in most people. The effect of vitamin E in preventing heart disease may be both timing-sensitive and dose sensitive with betacarotene.

Vitamin E protects cells and DNA from damage that can turn cancerous. It reduces the growth of tumors while enhancing immune function and preventing precancerous substances from being turned into carcinogens.

Vitamin E also acts as an antioxidant in foods. The vitamin E in vegetable oils helps keep them from being oxidized and turning rancid.

Vitamin E keeps the nervous system healthy by protecting the myelin sheaths that surround nerves. It also appears to prevent mental degeneration due to aging, including Alzheimer disease.

A daily dose of vitamin E has been shown to be effective in slowing functional decline in patients with mild -to-moderate Alzheimer's disease(AD). It also reduced the time caregivers spent in assisting the patients.

Vitamin E can be beneficial to people with diabetes. It enhances the action of insulin and improves blood glucose metabolism by reducing oxidative stress.

Vitamin E are divided into two groups; four are tocopherols and four are tocotrienols. They are identified by prefixes alpha- (α-), beta- (β-), gamma- (γ-), and delta- (δ-). Natural tocopherols occur in the RRR-configuration only. The synthetic form contains eight different stereoisomers and is called 'all-rac'-α-tocopherol.

New Allergy Treatment!

The number of allergy sufferer  has continued to increase in the industrialized for more than 50 years. Common types of allergy included allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, skin allergies and food allergies.

Astragalus is  proven natural product for allergic reactions such as seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis and skin allergy conditions.

Astragalus extract with targeted composition which relieves allergy symptoms by balancing immune system response to common allergens. It can be used both as prophylactic and after the onset of the allergy to relieve the symptoms.

What Is Astragalus?
Astragalus root has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries as a restorative tonic; it is considered a sweet, warming herb with effects on many organs. It is used either alone or with other herbs to help with aging, improve energy, and stimulate the immune system during conditions such as the common cold, blood disorders, cancer and HIV/AIDS. It is also used as an adaptogen, which is meant to increase general resistance to stress and disease, and normalize disturbances in your body’s ability to balance itself.
The root is sold as a supplement in tablets of different dosages.

How Does It Work?

There's a special chemical in astragalus that actually slows down the aging process right where it happens, inside of our cells, where the blueprint of our cells resides.
Recent research has shown that this special chemical derived from astragalus can "turn on" an enzyme called telomerase (hTERT). Telomerase acts to maintain or lengthen telomeres, which extend the lifespan of your DNA. If you imagine DNA as a shoelace, telomeres are the plastic aglets at each end. It serves as a protector for your DNA because it keeps it from fraying or damaging. As you age, your telomeres shorten due to wear and tear, which gives your cells an expiration date. However, telomerase helps to preserve telomeres by making them longer. Telemerase is usually "off" in adult cells, except in immune cells, in egg and sperm cells, and in malignant cells, like those found in cancer.

The length of your telomeres is important: Researchers have discovered correlations between telomere length and susceptibility to certain aging-related diseases, like cardiovascular diseases (heart attacks, atherosclerosis, and strokes), diabetes, and cancer.

Is It Safe?

Because of its long history of traditional and clinical use, astragalus is considered to be safe. However, it may increase the risk of bleeding, so caution is advised to those with bleeding disorders or those taking drugs that may increase the risk of bleeding.
Also avoid using astragalus while pregnant or breastfeeding, due to harmful effects seen in preliminary studies.

How Much Should I Take?

Take 200 mg, twice a day. Take it once in the morning, and once in the evening, with or without food.

Omega-7 New Essential Fat !

Omega-7 (Palmitoleic acid) is a non-essential fatty acid found in sea buckthorn oil. Omega-7 naturally present in all body tissues. Its plays an important role in skin physiology. Its helps to soothe and moisturise the skin, while promoting the regeneration of damaged tissues.

Palmitoleic acid had antioxidant properties which are able to protect the skin from oxidative damage and ease the symptoms of malnourished or ageing skin.

Omega-7 is also beneficial for those with Type-2 diabetes as it helps the body to overcome insulin resistance and fight off the imbalances that result in metabolic syndrome.

So start the right amount of good fats into our diet today!!!

Food that contain omega-7 :

Sea Buckthorn (High)

The best vegetarian or plant source of Omega 7 fatty acids is sea buckthorn berries. They are the richest plant source of Omega 7 and contain many other health promoting nutrients. Sea buckthorn is an emerging super fruit that has found placement on the Dr. Oz show several times over the last few years. The fruit’s oil is being used by manufacturers of nutritional supplements and especially skin care products because of it’s high content of Omega 7.

Dairy (Low)

Dairy products contain Omega 7 fatty acids like vaccenic (which means “cow”). Only dairy products made with whole milk or at least 2 percent will contain Omega 7. They can be found in liquid milk, cheese, and yogurt. While dairy can contain Omega 7 it’s rather sparse and not a significant source of the fat.

Macademia Nuts (Low-Med)

Macademia nuts are rich in palmitoleic acid (Omega 7) albeit not near as high as sea buckthorn oil. They also lack the many nutrients and benefits sea buckthorn provides. That being said as a nut they have a higher quantity of protein and fiber which is also good for the body.

Fish (Low)

Fish contain very low levels of Omega 7 fatty acids. They are a richer source of Omega 3’s and are better utilized for extracting that fatty acid. Taking fish oil for Omega 7’s is doable but not ideal. You won’t get very much of the fatty acid and will ingest a lot of other fatty acids in the process. Overdoing Omega 3, an EFA fish oil has potent stores of ,can thin your blood and reduce it’s ability to clot. This can have nasty consequences in the wake of a cut or injury.

Saturday 8 March 2014

My husband and I went to the At yatt restaurant in KL, we tried their abalone double boiled soup, however the picture from the menu and the serving that we serve are so different.

the sea cucumbers are so tiny, we had actually name it baby sea cucumber instead!=P
The food that they serve are fair for the price that we need to pay.
A bit disappointed.
